International recruitment firm, SThree (STEM: LSE) has signed a partnership with France’s first ever union for freelance and self-employed workers, Indépendants.co.

Indépendants.co is currently working with the government to create more rights for freelancers and ensure they are given an element of job security.

SThree said it has teamed up with the union as they share a similar vision about what the future of work should look like. They see more people in France choosing to make the switch to freelancing post-pandemic as workers look for more flexibility.

They also believe that many may see freelancing as the best option for them going forward as their niche skillsets are in high demand. SThree’s data confirms this, as 79% of its clients say it’s difficult to find the right specialists, with the right skills, in the right location.

Hind Elidrissi, Co-Founder at indépendants.co said, “SThree is a committed player serving the growing freelance community in many countries, particularly in France. We are very happy to announce our new partnership. Their commitment to the service of the freelance community is going to be a great asset in advancing the rights of freelancers in both France and in Europe. SThree is the very first organization to put their clients in contact with freelancers who partner up with Indépendants.co.”

A year ago SThree launched a community for its contractors. This has created an ecosystem for freelancers in which they can connect with clients, get support from specialists organisations, such as financial advice, to start and build their own business. It has also helped people make the transition from full-time employment to freelancing.

Mathieu Libessart, Strategic Partnerships Director at SThree France, said, “Being one of the first and main partners of Indépendants.co makes perfect sense for SThree. We’ve been working to promote the status of freelancers in France for almost 20 years, and supporting them in the day to day challenges they face has always been one of our priorities.

“SThree currently has around 700 STEM contractors in France and we’re convinced the number of freelancers in our industries will continue to grow over the next couple of years. We’re partnering with Indépendants.co as we want to play an active and long term role in the development of this new way of working in France, and make sure that freelance talent are offered the best working conditions,” Libessart said.
